We have prepared a workshop on collodion negatives and albumen prints given by Joaquín Paredes in our studio in Cáceres.
Albumin copying was invented in 1850 by Louis Désiré Blanquart-Evrard and was the most popular photographic process during the 19th century. It is a process that produces beautiful copies with a characteristic glow that made them prevail over matte copies on salted paper. In combination with collodion negatives they led to the first great "democratization" of photography. Making it accessible to a much larger audience.
the description and full program of the workshop is here: https://analoginside.com/taller-de-negativos-albuminas/
This is a three days workshop: morning and afternoon from 10-14h and 16-20h
To be able to attend to this workshop it is important to have some experience with wet plate collodion. It is a complicated workshop and having some skills with the process will help the student to get the most out of it.

240ml of collodion. All of our collodion formulas are supplied in wide-mouth borosilicate bottles to allow an easier pour and avoid the aging of the collodion as long as possible.
The Old Workhorse formula contains 2 salts: Potassium iodide and cadmium bromide. It has a great tonal range, similar to the Quick Clear and a long shelf life, but It’s one stop slower than Lea #7.
This formula is cloudy when mixed. It will take at least a week to clear out. Although we recommend you to let it ripen and let the salts precipitate to the bottom of the bottle, it could be used before it’s completely clear. We also recommend you to buy a 250ml bottle to decant the solution.
All our collodions are freshly mixed when we receive an order.
Pendant with a 4,5×4,5cm wet plate collodion image encapsulated with epoxy resin by Joaquín Paredes.
We have prepared a daguerreotype workshop given by Joaquín Paredes in our studio in Cáceres.
During this workshop, we will learn all the necessary skills for making Becquerel daguerreotype plates (without mercury).
We will start from scratch: We will leark how to polish and prepare the copper and brass plates. How to silver-plate our own plates. We will sensitize, develop, fix and guild the daguerrotypes. And we will finally learn howo to case and preserve the plates.
You have all the information on the workshop at: Daguerreotype workshop
