It is a 12h workshop and the schedule is Saturday from 10:00 - 14:00 h and from 16:00 - 20:00 h and Sunday from 10:00 - 14:00 h.
Cyanotyping is a 19th century photographic process based on ferric salts that produces
permanent images of intense blue. It was discovered by Sir John Herschel.
Although there are many variables of this process, it basically consists of two chemical
: potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate.
It is a relatively simple process, but with a very great plastic capacity. In the
s.XIX was used as a method for making cheap copies by students of photography.
Although the best known work made with this process is the British Algae by Anna Atkins.
Considered the first photobook in history, is a catalog of botanical species that the
author placed on an emulsion paper serving as a method of registration for not
having the need to draw.
The workshop is aimed at learning this contact printing technique, as well
as the necessary knowledge to generate digital negatives adapted to the process
with which to work. Although the process is originally of an intense blue, it can
be bleached and toned with different products to change its color.
In addition to the process on paper, we will also prepare an emulsion to be able to apply
this technique on glass or other supports.
