4x5" Wet Plate Collodion Portrait Session (10x12cm plate)
0 out of 5
75,00€
Do you want to make a special and original gift? A memory that will last for generations? Come and meet us in our studio in Cáceres and give a portrait on glass made with one of the oldest processes in the history of photography: the wet collodion.
Wet collodion is a photographic process from the mid-nineteenth century in which photographs are obtained on glass and other supports such as lacquered aluminum. The image is formed within a thin transparent layer of a liquid called collodion. When the image is developed and fixed, you get a photograph made of metallic silver. It is an image of unparalleled quality, beauty and durability. Many of the photographs produced in those early years of photography are still intact.
You're booking a session for a 56.8x71cm plate. We will need between two and four hours approximately, during which you will live an unforgettable experience and take home a little piece of the history of photography. You will be able to enjoy the whole process of elaboration of your collodion plate and a unique portrait by the photographer Joaquin Paredes.
We're waiting for you!
- We will contact you to make an appointment for the session.
- If you want a gift card, please indicate it in the comments of your order along with the address to which we should send it.
- If you have any questions call us on 678409142 and come and meet us at the studio.

240ml of collodion. All of our collodion formulas are supplied in wide-mouth borosilicate bottles to allow an easier pour and avoid the aging of the collodion as long as possible.
Lea #7 formula contains 4 salts: cadmium and ammonium iodide and cadmium and ammonium bromide. It’s one stop faster than Old Workhorse or Quick Clear formulas and responds very well in all kind of temperatures. Highlights are not easily solarized.
It is transparent when mixed and could be used the day after the mixture is made. Although it is recommended to leave a little more time to take full advantage of it. Very long life.
All our collodions are freshly mixed when we receive an order.

240ml of Old Workhorse collodion
0 out of 5
36,00€
240ml of collodion. All of our collodion formulas are supplied in wide-mouth borosilicate bottles to allow an easier pour and avoid the aging of the collodion as long as possible.
The Old Workhorse formula contains 2 salts: Potassium iodide and cadmium bromide. It has a great tonal range, similar to the Quick Clear and a long shelf life, but It’s one stop slower than Lea #7.
This formula is cloudy when mixed. It will take at least a week to clear out. Although we recommend you to let it ripen and let the salts precipitate to the bottom of the bottle, it could be used before it’s completely clear. We also recommend you to buy a 250ml bottle to decant the solution.
All our collodions are freshly mixed when we receive an order.
